CatGenie 120: a self cleaning cat toilet review.

The CatGenie 120 is the only automatic self-cleaning cat litter box that uses permanent washable granules instead of traditional cat litter. Just like a regular toilet the CatGenie 120 flushes the cat waste out of your home.

When your cat leaves The CatGenie 120 self-cleaning litter box a sensor is triggered on the unit which detects the presences and absence of your cat and begins a countdown for a cleaning cycle.

The cat urine flows through the granules into a compartment in the back of the unit where it is neutralized and then flushed away with water. The solid waste is sifted by an attachment called the GenieHand and moved into a compartment in the unit where the waste is liquified with a cleaning solution called SaniSolution. When this solution is mixed with water and flushed through the granules it cleans the granules.

After the cleaning is completed a built in heated air blower activates and dries the granules so it will be ready for the next uses.

One SaniSolution cartridge can last up to 120 cleaning cycles so it will depend on how many cats you have to determine how long one cartridge will last.

The unit is completely programmable. You can set it to cat activation which will start the cleaning cycle only when the cat has actually used the unit or you can specify when you want it to clean. You can also simply push the cleaning button.

The unit has a safety mechanism that will stop the cleaning process if your cat should return to the box.

You should consider putting it in your bathroom or laundry room because it needs a water supply like a toilet or a sink and it needs a places to drain. It also requires an electrical outlet for power.

The CatGenie 120 is shaped like a toilet and can accommodate an average sized cat. The bowl area measures 19 inches across. The dimensions of the unit are: 16 inches by 24 inches by 21 inches and it weights 45 pounds. The unit is only recommend to be used by two to three cats at most.

The unit comes with the following in the package: A "T" connector hose to hook it up to a water supply, a three-foot drainage hose, a four-foot electrical cord, air blower, a maintenance pack and a two year warranty.

The unit comes with one machine maintenance treatment pack which keeps the hoses clean and clear and clog free.The company recommends that you use the treatment packs up to four times a year to keep the machine working well.
